Um, Arrctually?

Let’s put this blog to good use, shall we?

I’m pleased to announce that on December 17th, I’ll be taking part in National Children’s Alliance’s SAY IT LOUDER fundraiser event.

(Side note here, for people who work for charities with influencers/content creators? The fact that when the NCA emailed me, they started the email out with “Ahoy!” showed they’d actually put some thought and effort into reaching out, which immediately put them miles above other solicitations I get to do fundraising. Just a thing to think about.)

I wanted to do something a little more than just my usual “eat spicy foods while gaming” fundraising style, and also challenged myself to do better about reaching out to friends to collaborate on things.

Thus - Um, Arrctually was born!

I’ve loved the Um, Actually series for a long time now and jumped on the Kickstarter for the home game when it was announced. It arrived last month, and I knew I wanted to use it for a stream at some point so this was the perfect opportunity.

But I also hit on the idea of how this could be a fun donation incentive too…

How it’s going to work

I’ll be joined by CypherOfTyr, SpaceValkyries and UrbanBohemian for the live stream on December 17th at 4pm ET/1pm PT. The fundraiser will be run via Tiltify and is already up for donations - for a $50 donation, you can submit your own incorrect statement via the Google Form linked via Tiltify, which will be used in the final round of the broadcast.

Caveat - I will absolutely veto any statement I deem inappropriate, and will be asking for a link that backs up the statement.

There’s no prize for the winner, as this is just being done for fun and charity, but should be a good time for all!

Goal and Additional Incentive

I’ve set a goal of $500 for the campaign, which I think is aggressive but achievable. However, I also have a stretch goal.

If we manage to double that and hit $1000, I will commit to pulling out my Final Fantasy XIV cookbook…

…sorry, critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, with an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime, cookbook…

And do a cooking stream using it. The reason this is a stretch goal is that I AM A TERRIBLE COOK.

Seriously, I’ve burned water.

In my last apartment I disconnected the smoke alarm because I got tired of it going off every time I tried to bake anything.

So, if you want to encourage that ridiculous nonsense, you know what to do!
